Just singing in the rain • NYC children's photography sessions

Why has Blue Candyland been so quiet lately?  Well, this week I've been shooting up a storm...and last week I was shooting in a storm!  Yes, it rained and poured during my trip to NYC, but we definitely made the best of it, complete with swimming suits and rain boots.  In fact, I think that these rainy day photos may be among my all time favorites.  And how could I not have enjoyed myself when greeted with flowers and chocolate at the fantastic summer home of one of the loveliest families around?!  Here is just a teeny tiny sneak peek for someone who I know is positively dying to see them...

And yes, it was truly raining to some degree in every single one of these photos - can you believe it?  What troupers these kids were...and gorgeous ones to boot!

Mood Swings and the Big Apple • Indianapolis baby photographer

Just a note to say that I will be working in New York for the remainder of the week and will be back in my office on Monday the 22nd.  All e-mails and phone calls will be returned at that time.  I'm hoping that my New York sessions are not rained out - we have a very soggy forecast coming our way so I may need to get a bit creative!  :)

Such a gorgeous baby!

Home tour feature • Meridian Kessler children's photographer

When I was little I used to dream of being mentioned in the newspaper.  I thought that if it ever were to happen I would immediately be elevated to celebrity status.  And although I realize that it hasn't shot me into the famous category yet, I still think that it is fun no matter how many times I have seen my name in print!  Check out this Indy Star article about my lovely clients here that included a photo of some my portraits in their home below...

I've been lucky enough to photograph their family since their daughter was a newborn and their son was a little tyke.  Here they are then...

It is a treat to see them each year at their session, but this time I nearly didn't recognize them as they have changed so much!  Here they are now...

Big brother is such a sweet, gentle soul and little sis just bursts with joy and life.  And together they make quite the wonderful pair!  

Their home will be featured as part of the Meridian Kessler tour of vintage homes this weekend, and it is just as stunning as the family that calls it home!

Jack and Chase • Indianapolis kids' photographer

It was such a treat to photograph Jack again, as I hadn't seen him since our photo sessions here and here.  He has changed so much AND has an adorable little brother now!  Here is Jack with his mom and dad (and baby brother too, as his mom was newly pregnant!) over two years ago...

And his adorable little brother Chase...

Together they make quite the busy pair - jumping, growling, and running circles around their parents - all the normal stuff that little boys do...

But once in a while, there is a glimpse of how much they truly adore each other...a tender and pure moment -

...that only lasts a second until they are back in a world of imagination and fun...

Atlas and Moses • Indianapolis children's photographer

I realize that I say it over and over, but is such a joy to be able to watch my little clients grow and change.  And sometimes seeing a client grow up is nothing short of a miracle.  Here is Atlas as an infant, just days before having open heart surgery...

And here is sweet Atlas now...three years later with a healthy heart

And his adorable big brother Moses...

Like any brothers, they love to wrestle and giggle...

But it seems that even more than most brothers, Moses is a bit more protective and kind to his little brother, and Atlas is a bit more loving and adoring of his older sibling.  They are so lucky to have each other and I know that their parents are extra grateful for every day with both of their miracles.

Sisters • Indianapolis child photography

I was delighted when Sophia and Olivia's mom called me to set up another session for them.  I had a fantastic time with them last time  and couldn't wait to see how much they have grown and changed.  And they have changed quite a bit (it seems that each one grew a couple of feet - I am so jealous!), but they are still the same beautiful girls, inside and out.  Although they argue like cats and dogs, it is a playful spirited fighting that is only on the surface.  Underneath the banter, there is a fierce love and protection for one another.  Though they are quite different in looks and personalities, sometimes it is hard to tell where one sister ends and one begins.  I think that this photo captures the depth and spirit of their relationship perfectly...

But - oh! - there is so much more...

 

Whew!  I guess I was in a sharing mood.  :)  Would you believe that there are many more that I'm leaving out?!  To their mom:  I'm glad that your husband was practicing his tennis swings, because he is going to need to swing a heavy bat to keep the boys away very soon.  Seriously though, thank you for a wonderful time with your family once again!

It's no secret how much I love to photograph babies...and occasionally I get the chance to photograph beautiful bellies as well.  Most parents-to-be are super excited, but Jamie and Tarik are over the moon about their soon-to-be-born miracle baby!

The light of her life • Carmel, Indiana children's photographer

This little man was sooo adorable and I'm quite sure that he is the light of his mother's (and grandmother's!) life!  My own littlest guy is very close to his age, so I'm quite the expert at photographing toddler boys.  We had a great time!
